Established and successful drama school

Frances’ School of Drama (FSD), established 27 years ago, is one of a kind. An Independent Drama School where every child matters. It’s like a big family, where everyone is welcome and no one forgotten.

For those that wish to take their drama to the next level, advice and support is given for auditions into the profession and into drama schools. Recent pupils have obtained places in ArtsEdMount ViewGSARoseBruford and LSMT.

Fantastic mix of students

We find that our mix of children, some introvert, some extrovert,  with talent, with talent waiting to be found, with confidence that needs a little boost, or simply with a love for performing, provides a friendly, hardworking atmosphere for all students.

At show time the classes often mix together , so younger ones get a chance to work with the older ones, often their idols, and older ones get the chance to help the younger ones - a great learning curve.

Great Teachers

All our teachers are fully qualified, enthusiastic and approachable. Some have grown up with FSD as were themselves students and some are industry professionals having performed in Touring Companies, Cruise Ships, Films and professional theatres. Some senior students have the opportunity to assist the teachers in class, which the younger students love and gives the seniors confidence and experience for their next chapters.  All Teachers and Teaching Assistants are DBS checked.

Clear Teaching Aims

When the school was developed in 1995, we created 6 simple aims that are still the core of all our teaching today. They are:

- to develop the art of acting

- to improve speech and communication skills

- to increase confidence

- to work as a team

- to encourage and support the artistic potential in every child.

- to have fun!

Developing Life skills

We find many of skills learnt at FSD are valuable life skills useful in many aspects of their lives now and for the future.
